Q. Is my story worth money? A. We believe everyone has a story to tell. These are just some of the top money-spinners:
We’re looking for people of all ages. And if you’re still not sure, call us. We’ll listen and give you our expert advice. Do I have to use my real name? Yes, except for very rare, sensitive circumstances or where legal reasons dictate. Will my picture be printed? Yes, normally. Visit our Photos page for more information. Can my story be used without my permission? No. We will only use your story if you have given us permission. Can I see my story before it is printed? Yes. Before we send your story to the magazine or newspaper, we will read it back to you to make sure you are happy. Can I make a deal with several women’s magazines? No. The magazines will only pay for your story if it is exclusive to them. They will ask you to sign a contract to ensure this. Only when it is out in print can you take it elsewhere but we can often sell your story to a magazine AND a national newspaper. Do I have to sign a contract? Yes. It is important to sign a contract to make sure you get paid. Do you charge me for getting my story into print? No. The publication will pay us a separate fee to write the story. When do I get paid? Most publications operate on the principle that payment is due after publication – this can vary from a matter of days to a couple of months. Will someone come round to my house to interview me? No. We will conduct the interview over the phone unless you would prefer a face-to-face interview. |
